Dustin Fortin

In 2004, our son and brother Dustin Fortin was killed in a tragic car accident at the age of 19. While it was a life cut short, it wasn't a life that didn't make a difference. In his short life, Dustin left a legacy not only in starting our hog farm, but in the lives of others. When Dustin died, we met as a family and decided to continue it in his memory. While our lives have never been the same without Dustin, in addtion to keeping his memory alive 4-10 Hogs has provided a way for our family with some healing from our loss. In addition to the farm, we continue Dustin's memory through a scholarship at the Fort LeBoeuf Foundaiton.

In a garden created from gifts at Dustin's funeral a plaque displays this quote from President Theodore Roosevelt that epitomized Dustin's life:

Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.

Great Memories

Through Dustin's death, we were reminded that few things are permanent BUT memories do last. For the past 11 years that we've been taking care of the farm, we made countless memories together. Whether working in the barn cleaning pens, farrowing baby pigs, training show pigs, attending and showing pigs around the region and state, or just enjoying a cool breeze on a summer night at the farm, these memories are ones that will last a lifetime not just for Dennis and Donna, but their boys and their familes.

Country Values

One of the great advantages of living on and working a farm is the opportunity to teach and install values in our children. We believe that involving our children and grandchildren in the daily operation of the farm as well as providing them with a chance to raise projects through 4-H teaches hard work, selflessness,  and compassion in addition to numerous other life lessons that will propel them into the future.

Making a Difference

We believe that we weren't placed here to merely benefit ourselves but to make a difference in God's creation. It is our privlege to help not only our customers succeed but also those that we come in contact with. Many of our customers count of on us for on going consultation and we readily take advantage of opportunities to use our resources and experience to help others.

Our farm mascot, Henry the donkey, is well into his teenage years and permanent member of the family. He loves his friends at the farm and lets us know if anything is out of line.
